Treat Yourself With Kindness


“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.” -Goethe

This applies to yourself as well! In fact, starting with you is the perfect beginning. We are too often hard on ourselves for not being who we think we should be. What would happen if instead of focusing on the disappointment of who you are now compared to your ideal, you treated yourself like you were already the person you want to be? My ideal self is kind, loving, gracious, compassionate, forgiving, and funny. Yes, funny! She finds humor in the imperfections, she forgives others and has grace. It has been my experience, that the times that I intentionally practice having grace for myself, automatically lead to an increased ability to have more grace for others.
