The boys headed out on a 7+ hour road trip this past weekend, so a trip to the library became a necessity! Although we are deeply grateful for the option of watching movies during trips to keep kids entertained, we love the concept of listening to audiobooks even more.

The first time we tried this a few years ago, changed our life. Literally. We were having the hardest time getting our 3 year old to stay in his room after putting him to bed. We tried every trick in the book. After taking a road trip with audiobooks, we actually bought some and loaded them onto an ipod for him to listen to at night. Now, two years later, he still listens to audio books every night (and stays in his room!). The amazing thing to me, has been that the books he listens to are chapter books and his vocabulary has skyrocketed as has his understanding of geography, history, and places in the world. Thank you again, Magic Treehouse books. I still believe in reading to my kid myself, but hey… audio books have been one of the greatest inventions ever 🙂
