Ep 124 Tiny Tip: Flip the Switch

These tiny tip are designed to give you one small thing you can do to be a better creator in your life. Each tip is inspired by the Law of Creation. Creation includes what we see, say, feel, and do, which leads to who we become. If you want a deep dive into the law of creation, check out my free course at brookesnow.com.

In my last episode we talked about how our connection to God is constant and unconditional. Even though our thoughts and actions can open or close our heart and mind, God is always there. Said another way, our thoughts and actions can turn us toward God or away from God, but once again, God does not ever leave us.

So what do you do when you find yourself totally closed off or turned away? What can you do to open back up again? I want to share with you one of the most important tools in my toolbox. I call it “flip the switch”.

In my book I teach that we all have two identities. One is true and one is false.

Your true self is what scripture refers to as your divine nature.
Your false self is what scripture refers to as the natural man or the psychology world refers to as your ego.
Your true self is an open state of mind and heart.
Your false self is a more closed state of mind and heart.

So what do you do when you find yourself in the false self and closed off or turned away?

You flip the switch.

Flip the switch between your false self and your true self as fast as you can.

The easiest way to do this is by taking a breath.

Inhale, and allow that physical sensation through your body to fill you with the light of who you really are.

Exhale out the dark shadow of your false self.

Mentally make note that you are flipping the switch and NOW you are your true self.

We want to get really really good at flipping the switch. And might I add, we want to get really really fast at flipping the switch.

The false self will tell you that you can’t change that fast. The false self will tell you that you need to keep suffering, that you deserve to stay there and try to hold you hostage in that identity. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Just like God is always there for you, you also always have your true self inside of you. Your true self is always there. And your true self is divine and holy and good. It’s only a matter of flipping the switch and opening back up again.
Flip the switch and embody your true self.

Did you just lose your temper?
Flip the switch. Open up and come back to who you are.

Did you just say something you shouldn’t, or dwell on a thought that brought shame or guilt?
Flip the switch. Open up and come back to who you are.

Did you just relapse into a bad habit or addiction?
Flip the switch. Open up and come back to who you are.

Can it really be that fast?
Yes.
Does it sometimes take longer than a deep breath?
Well, I admit, there are moments where my body needs some support, and eating some nourishing food or going on a walk or taking a nap helps me more easily flip the switch.

And to be honest, I also have moments where I don’t want to flip the switch because part of me just wants to be mad or sad or fill in the blank. Those moments I take as a cue that I need a time out to feel my feelings.

Needless to say, my point is that God is always there and your divine true self is always inside you as well. I believe in fast forgiveness, because God gives fast forgiveness. When you find you have closed up your heart and mind, remember to flip the switch and come back to who you really are. There is no progress in the false self. None. Progress only happens in the true self. So come back as fast as you can.

At first it will feel weird. Your false self will argue with you that you aren’t allowed to do that. You aren’t allowed to forgive yourself that fast. You have to suffer. This is a lie. Flip the switch. Come back. Be your true self. Heaven is ready and waiting to receive you and support you.

Inhale
Exhale
Flip the Switch.

See it.
Say it.
Feel it.
Do it.
Become it.

You are a creator, now go create something great.
