My Favorite People

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn

Whether or not the above quote is totally true or not–we are undoubtedly greatly influenced by those we surround ourselves with. Other people can help shape our attitudes, our thoughts, our level of hope or optimism, and how we feel about ourselves.

For better or worse.

How to spend your time with the world’s greatest people:

I still remembered the moment that I figured out that I could spend my time with amazing people without having to meet them in person. That’s why reading influential books is one of my favorite past times. Julia Cameron and Sarah Ban Breathnach have changed my life and I still haven’t met them face to face. (If you know them personally, please hook me up!).

Here’s a little tip of my hat to some of the people and messages that have influenced me lately.

I hope you enjoy as well.

Sarah Allred’s debut course, Composition Bootcamp, will be amazing and starts in two days!

I handpicked this amazing girl as my teaching assistant nearly two years ago and still consider it one of the best business decisions I ever made. Her dynamic personality is so encouraging and she has the amazing talent of being able to balance brilliant teaching with constructive criticism that actually leaves you feeling empowered and excited to improve yourself. A rare find in the teaching world.

One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are

I will be adding Ann Voskamp to my list of amazing literary influences. I brought this book home from the library a week ago and though I haven’t finished it yet, I’ve already ordered my own copy. I couldn’t bear the thought of having to return it to the library.

I read a lot of self help books with amazing messages, but rarely does the language in those books hold the poetic magic that Ann writes with. Is it possible to want to caress and admire someone’s sentences?! She teaches some profound doctrine on the principle of gratitude that has already altered the way I see. This book pretty much holds the secret to an amazing wonderful life.

If we’re talking about what’s influencing me, I have to include Dressing Your Truth.

I found this program over a year ago and it’s influenced every part of me. The way I dress, the way I think, the way I parent, the way I interact with others, the way I understand and fully accept myself, my marriage, my important relationships, the way I do business… Does that pretty much cover every aspect of my life or what?!

Their new Men’s course launched today and I couldn’t be more excited (and perhaps a bit jealous! I wanted to buy all four courses and I’m not even a man! ha ha!)
