Have you ever tried to move forward in some area of your life, only to feel like everything is working against you? In today’s episode I want to talk about the areas we experience resistance, and some helpful tools to make it through. We’ll talk about how to deal with physical resistance in our bodies, as well as emotional and mental resistance, and how the anecdote is actually the OPPOSITE of what you might think.
Shownotes:
- The War of Art: Break Through The Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield. An entire book on resistance. Absolutely outstanding 🙂
- Understanding the Messages of Your Body: How to Interpret Physical and Emotional Signals to Achieve Optimal Health. Helpful book for finding the emotional connection to pain in your body.
- Ep. 9 The Miracle of How I Got a Book Deal
Hi Brooke! I was so excited when I saw a new episode of your podcast come out today! I always look forward to hearing your insight, it always finds a way of speaking to me, to my heart and soul. Loved the episode – made me think about what I am resisting and it really took only 90 seconds! I’ll share a secret with you – my best friend and I are hoping to open a mediation studio here in our home town of Vancouver, Canada. We are feeling a lot of resistance! Will people come, will we be able to make the rent, will we be able to lead some of the guided meditations. We believe so strongly in the power of mediation, we have felt it in our own lives and we want to share it and bring together community while practicing it. I was so curious about the online visualization course you are taking. Would you mind sharing the details? Also, I’m almost through your book! Love the helpful, instructional , practical format and all the content! I will leave a review on iTunes. I’m so thankful to have “found you” in a happenstance way through your photography courses but your mediations and self discovery and faith have been so enriching for me. It makes me think of one of my favourite Rumi quotes “what you are seeking is also seeking you”. Blessings Sophia
Sophia! Oh my goodness! I so loved all the things you said! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! i’m delighted to hear that you love meditation too! We are kindred spirits! And I love that you are opening a meditation studio!!!!! HOORAH! How amazing! The world needs YOU and MEDITATION! The Online course I’m taking is from Felice Austin. It’s her Guided Imagery Facilitator Training. I’m in the current course, and I think she opens it every six months, so another one will start in January??? Not sure. But feel free to contact her. I have absolutely loved the course. Like sooooo much. It would be an incredible tool for your studio. In fact, I go to a gong guided imagery class at my local yoga studio and the teacher is one of her graduates and the experience is always amazing. Hope that helps! Thank you so much for supporting my podcast and my book! <3
Hi Brooke
Thank you so much for your response! So great to hear from you. I was wondering if I can be so bold and ask another question… is there an online course you did or would recommend for general meditation teacher training? You are such a great teacher and just wondering how you became that way! Truly an inspiration Brooke.
Hi Sophia! Thanks so much for your kind words! I have never done meditation teacher training 🙂 But I am a devoted and loyal student of meditation myself, which is probably the most powerful asset to teaching it! ha! There’s a wonderful power that comes in teaching something you live and love. Students pick up on that energy and want to experience it for themselves 🙂
Hello Brooke
Thank you for your words of wisdom and I’m encouraged and inspired by the notion that a devoted and authentic personal meditation practice is the first step to teaching it. As you said, it is a powerful asset! Thank you and many blessings!
