The two most important questions

My lovely friend Marci sent me a marco polo after listening to my podcast on “Toxic Productivity” proudly telling me that she was sitting on her porch doing nothing.
We had a good chuckle and then some amazing back and forth conversation about what makes productivity toxic and what makes it healthy.
I think when it comes down to it, we all want to be productive. It’s built into our genetics as creators. What gets hard, is the imbalanced and obsessive focus on productivity=fruit. The tendency is to think productivity means I have something right now to show for my efforts.

Mother Nature is the best teacher for healthy productivity. Each season is productive in different ways;

Spring: Planting seeds. This looks like creative new ideas and beginnings.
Summer: Harvest. This is the fruit!
This is what the western world counts as productive. Seeds and fruit. Seeds and fruit. Seeds and fruit. Harvest, harvest, harvest. However, there are two other vital seasons.
Fall: Letting Go. This is the time to prune.
Winter: Rest. Dormancy.

This week in the Discover Your Purpose course on the Co create app, we are talking about SOUL Goals, which include the two most important questions you can ask yourself to help you move forward in your life purpose. Those questions are:

  1. What is the most important thing that I can START doing that would most transform my life?
  2. What is the most important thing that I can STOP doing that would most transform my life?

What I love about these questions is that it is balanced productivity for goals. It’s just as important to let go and rest as it is to plant and harvest. And when you approach your goals this way, magical things happen. I share my own epic stories of this balanced approach in this weeks lesson. (Find it in the learn section of the app in Discover Your Purpose).

To be a Co Creator in your life, you will have the most success when you align with the laws of Mother Nature. And guess what? She has more than two seasons for a reason. They all gracefully work together to create sustainably. No more burnout.

This is something I’m playing around with on so many levels. Even in how I experience my day. I do like having seeds and harvest in my day. Writing this email and publishing this new lesson on the app is fruit for creative time I put forth.  AND…going on my walk today is a time I’m letting go of inputs and outputs. Enjoying my tea and meditating with friends tonight at Sangha is a time I’m resting.

I’m DONE with the burnout model.
Time for balance.
It’s so beautiful. And sustainable. .

You are a creator.
Feel, be, see, say, and do.
The light in me honors the light in you.

Namaste,

Brooke
