The music of family

These pictures are particularly meaningful to me for two reasons.

1.  Its my super fantastic sister and her great family

2.  They’re all taken in our childhood home.  The music room that I spent hours practicing in everyday.  My mom’s fabulous rare instrument collection.  The reading couch I’d get scolded for sleeping on all night with a book under my head.  My parents send you to heaven bed.  All of it is just so much a part of me and us.

I hope you enjoy a peek into our lives.

  1. i LOVE the bed ones. and it’s true–shooting in someone’s home does have a different feel to it. i’ve been trying to convince more people to let me use their homes for portraits lately. 🙂

  2. I love these! It can’t get better than books and music/instruments in the same room and taking photos in a place that means something rocks! Complete Awesomeness! 🙂

  3. Brooke- I have never had success with bed cuddle shots. Are you standing up on the bed with your 50mm, or did you do something else to get higher? Can’t wait to see an indoor lighting workshop on your online class list!

  4. Samantha! Yes, I’m standing on the bed with my 50mm. Keep in mind that I shoot with a full frame camera, so its a true 50mm. Anyone with a cropped sensor camera would need to get higher still or use something like a 35mm.
