My new secret to success

I was really excited to share with Ben over dinner my new discovery for success.

“I finally figured out the secret!!” I exclaimed with beaming pride at my own intelligence.

“Successful people are not necessarily more talented than others. They are just really good at doing hard things.”

He just looked at me and then kindly nodded his head.  I fear I needed a bit more explanation on my not-as-profound-as-I-hoped thought…I went onto explain:

“You know those things that are SOOOoooooo hard? Like doing the dishes after 6 p.m.?”

He immediately knew my profoundness.

“Or not checking your phone every five seconds?”

“Or getting off facebook?”

“Or choosing to be productive instead of surfing the net?”

“Or finishing a task?”

“Or replying to my emails?”

“Or cleaning the bathrooms?”

“Or making dinner?”

We could each go on all night long with all the really “HARD” things we have to do in our life 😉

But those DARN HARD THINGS are the reason for so much of my failures!

We made a pact.

“WE CAN DO HARD THINGS.”

And I got up and did the dishes.  (with a smile mind you!)

So much of my roadblocks in my daily life are in my own head.  As soon as I tell myself that “HARD” is “EASY”, there’s a change and a glimmer of possibility that wasn’t there before.

What are your hard things? Tell me in the comments below!

Love love love your posts Brooke – You are awsome <3 xxx

    1. aah, how often do I let the laundry sit in the dryer for days ?? yet it only takes a few moments to do something about it! So HARD sometimes 🙂

  2. Not feeling like I need to be successful today instead of enjoying the process is hard. I think our fast pace, internet world feeds this for me and I stop enjoying ‘today’. This is something I’m really trying to change in my life. Enjoy today, but that is sometimes hard.
