Rain, Rain.

Is there anything more thrilling than doing something OFF LIMITS?  Or even better, knowing that there isn’t going to be a consequence in exchange for the thrill?

If I could ditch the consequences, I would likely drive super fast,  cut my hair short, spend my life savings on a month long bike vacation across Prince Edward Island, and throw away my cell phone forever.

My crazies are a little more complex.

I can still get a similar thrill watching three girls have PERMISSION to jump in puddles and get muddy.  That should hold me over for now 🙂

  1. Brooke, currently I only have a 50 mm lens. What lens did you use to get the mud puddle pictures? I am trying to figure out what length I would need to buy so I don’t have to be so “on top of” my subjects. Have heard great things about the 85 and 24-70–did you use either of these in the photos above?

  2. I’ve been waiting for you to post these! Where did you find such great mud puddles? (Ha ha. I’m just kidding. I’ve heard you’ve got a lot of rain lately…) The first one has my heart. I love the jump!

P.S. If you do a month long bike ride accross PEI I want to come. That was a good vacation.

  3. You have a way of capturing my girls and all of their zeal and enthusiasm! That first one? Oh my, it looks like she could actually jump right out of the picture – I love it!!
They are all just killin’ me. The B&W’s are so beautiful… and my little “ducky” looks so precious. Eeee! I love them all!

  4. Sara–these were all taken with a 50mm 1.4 lens on a full frame camera (so its a true 50mm). If you shoot with a cropped sensor camera it (the 50mm) would be roughly equivalent to an 85mm. You’d instead want to shoot with a 35mm. Hope that helps 🙂

  5. Love everything about this post! I loved too that at times someone else also wants to be without their cell for a while, refreshing. Beautiful moments in all of the photos!
