Online is Coming!!

Some readers may have noticed a missing Magic Monday post yesterday.  Did you miss it?  If so, please let me know!  (Comments are always so much appreciated and the only way I have of judging the effectiveness of anything I write 🙂 )

My life is a little crazy right now.  I feel somewhat buried in a list of projects that have pending deadlines, a clock that ticks too fast and a child who suddenly makes me understand the entire children’s book series of Curious George with endearing relevance.

The most important project of all…

…that I was hoping to more formally announce and laden it with anticipation and applause…

…but have now settled for posting with the same acclaim as a facebook status update (hoorah!)

Is…

MY CLASSES ARE GOING ONLINE!!!!!

I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity.  The way that it has all magically come together is cause for great gratitude and humility.  And of course a good dose of Divine Intervention.

The thought of online classes has been lingering in my mind for several months, but after meeting Micah, (the Divine Intervention/great gratitude portion of the story) the little dream became a soon to be reality.

Micah (who I mentioned HERE) contacted me this summer about photo classes (he’s an awesome photographer himself) and as we got chatting I learned that he was a PhD student studying Instructional Technology and Distance Education.

Do you see the stars aligning right about now???

With Micah’s help he has helped me understand how to take the class experience into an online format in the most optimal way possible.  He knows so many things about online education pro’s, con’s, challenges, what works, what doesn’t, what additional resources you need, what resources are even available to make it all work,…

AND…

to put the icing on the cake, he has a personal interest in photography himself that makes this networking relationship the most ideal it possibly could be.

We’ve decided upon instruction via some fabulous online video tutorials.  You get the same great presentation as the live class, but with the bonus of convenience to watch from where ever you are, whenever your schedule allows.  There’s also an option for live personal interaction and so many other great ideas that I’m still in a daze at how in the world I would have ever pulled this off by myself.  I couldn’t.  Not to this caliber ever.

Further details will come later, after we launch our pilot run in the next few weeks.

But as such…

I am somewhat buried in the preparation of it all.

If I seem scarce in the next bit here, you’ll know why 🙂

In the meantime, here’s a fun shot from my Sunday on the family ranch.  I’ve decided that Naomi definitely needs to come model for my classes.

Brooke Snow is a Lifestyle photographer in Cache Valley, Utah. Her talents and awards include winning the 4th, 5th, and 7th grade spelling bees. Unfortunately she’ll always remember the words she lost on: Buzzard (only used one Z) and Squirrel (only used one R). Completely defeated, she now relies on spell check, and husband check. Both are quite reliable and keep her looking more intelligent.

Brooke teaches private photography lessons , online photography courses, as well as monthly photography classes in Logan, Utah.

  1. Yay for you Brooke! That sounds fantastic. I love when divine forces align and you know something was meant to be. Wishing you & Micah much success in your upcomming projects.

Btw…I love that image. I was recently discussing doing a session with a girl and her horse and will tell you although flattered, I was also intimidated. Your image is tempting me to through caution to the wind and step up to the challenge.

    Thanks for being you.

  2. So excited to hear this Brooke! I’m in the middle of another online class right now, and I’m so wishing I had waited for yours. Hoping the stars align so that i can take yours soon!

  3. I was wondering if this was in the pipeline. Working, teaching, and collaborating over great distances has become so much easier these last few years. I’m really glad that you found Micah, talk about the right person for the job!

  4. You are far too kind! You failed to emphasize how critical your contribution has been on creating ALL OF THE CONTENT!!! With that being said I am excited to see how this all plays out. As the A-Team would say, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

  5. I am so excited to hear more! If you have not already filled your pilot class, I would be interested in the opportunity! I can’t wait to see what new doors this opens for online classes for you! You will rock it! Just like everything else you do! =)

  6. Yay! Im so excited!! I’ve wanted to take your classes but with having a little girl this year it just hasnt panned out. Im so excited I can now take your class and not have to travel (although i would have) do it.

  7. I always thought it would be great to attend one of your classes, but I don’t live in the same state and that’s a problem. 🙂 I’m excited to see what you have planned for your online classes!
