Keeping a Sense of Wonder

This kid wears me out, tries my patience, and makes each day a little on the crazy side.

But you won’t find anyone more passionate about life or more enthusiastic for the smallest of things.

He’s a walking reminder to me of how I should be seeing life.

How I should be living.

How I should be using all of my senses for every adventure.

I think God knew that I was too serious about life so he sent me someone to shake things up a bit.

Most of my challenging parenting moments stem from me still trying to be too serious and expecting a near three year old to do the same.  Far too often I catch myself in the heat of frustration with a sly grin smiling back at me as if to remind me that I’m the one that is making this hard.  If I were to follow suit with a sense of wonder, just a little more often, most of the conflict wouldn’t exist.

May you have a WONDER FULL day.  I’m off to do the same 🙂

  1. Brooke, I was going to tell you that I referred a friend to take one of your online courses. She sent me a text yesterday thanking me & has so far loved the course. Good work lady!

  2. Hi Brooke,

Just a note to say that your post “Keeping a sense of Wonder” resonated with me. Like you I have a toddler in my life who is almost 3 years old. I never imaged that motherhood would be so emotionally challenging – or at least would challenge my patience, and test (and break) my need to control things to the degree that it has. While all around other mothers “coo” about how emotionally fulfilling motherhood is, it is good to hear from a mother who admits to battling with the realities and frustrations that are part of living with a toddler, while still loving their little one with all their might. So I am not alone out here. You have helped restore my sanity and have reminded me to see the good in those trying times or to see beyond them and to keep a sense of perspective. Thank you. Elise..

    1. Oooh Elise! Thank you so much for your comment! You are most certainly NOT alone! Motherhood is super challenging! Especially that toddler stage! Hang in there and know that there are mothers all around the world in the same boat! Mothers unite!! 😉 Good luck, my friend! May you have the dose of perspective that you need to see the moments for their sense of wonder!
