Giveaway + True Artist: Carol Tuttle

Do you know what a thrill it is to be able to meet one of your major life influences? Carol Tuttle is the creator of the Dressing Your Truth program that I have raved about as well as the author of some of the most influential books that I have ever read.

I had the opportunity to interview Carol today and am thrilled to be able to share her insights with you. Our main point of discussion centers around the topic of personal identity.

If you have ever felt like you have lost your identity due to the pressures of life, the constant service we give to our families, or have simply struggled in understanding who you are, TUNE IN!

I have always thought that I had a strong sense of personal identity most of my life. I was always clear on what I wanted and for every stage of life I had a vision for myself. (I’ve since found out through Carol’s books that this is a natural gift I have to see the bigger picture). But that doesn’t mean that I always understood this myself. Carol’s books have brought more clarity on who I was and who the people around me are than any other book or program I’ve ever seen. We’re talking a MASSIVE SHIFT in my perspective here.

Carol just released her latest book, The Child Whisperer, The Ultimate Handbook for Raising Happy, Successful, and Cooperative Children, this week–which sold out on Amazon the first day! Books are back in stock (unless they’ve sold out again!), but you should act fast to take advantage of the bonuses that she’s providing for those who purchase this first week of release (details found at thechildwhisperer.com). Order it now even if it has to be on backorder!

Quick Book Review

YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!

It doesn’t matter if you are a parent or not, or if you have small children or are now an empty nester. I was amazed at the insight I gained in this incredible book. Not just about the unique nature of my own determined child, but about myself. Carol presents four different types of children and in great detail discusses how to appropriately understand and parent to each of these types.

The Fun Loving Child
The Sensitive Child
The Determined Child
The More Serious Child

Everything from how to potty train, to what extra-curricular activities would be best suited, to dating life, to discipline, to motivation, and beyond. It’s captivating and revealing on so many levels. Reading about the “More Serious Child” (which is the type of child and person that I am) filled me with an amazing peaceful clarity. It was an emotional experience for me to read about the challenges and strengths of my own type and to finally have some understanding of a lifetime of my own behavior and thoughts and feelings. Oh yes, but this is about our own children too, right?! We’ve experienced our own share of struggles with Buzzy and this book has provided the greatest insight on how to tailor our parenting strategies and solutions to fit his nature.

IT’S INCREDIBLE!!!!

*And just a note for all of you with grown children who don’t necessarily read parenting books anymore…I lent my copy to my fabulous mother and she devoured it and has read certain parts several times, experiencing a lot of personal healing in herself.

I can’t even begin to tell you the incredible enriching conversations that this has evoked with my family and friends who have read the book. Every single conversation we have we end up talking about the things that we have learned and how it applies to our life.

The only regret I have is that I didn’t know all of this earlier. I could have saved myself so much heart ache, misunderstandings, and would have lived with such higher esteem of myself AND others had I understood this information much earlier. I’m just so grateful that I have it now.

I’m giving away a free copy!

If you’d like to enter the giveaway please leave a comment on why you need this book 🙂 The winner will be announced on Monday.

And now, without further adieu, I’d love to introduce you to Carol!

  1. Oh Brooke! I could SO use this book, both to understand myself better and to be able to communicate with him in a way that he will listen. Being a single mother is so challenging! I’ve done well so far, but as he keeps getting older, it’s obvious to me that I need to evolve in my parenting style. It would be fabulous to win the book, as my budget is quite tight these days, but if I don’t, I’ll trust your judgement and shell out the dollars. 😉
Have a happy rest of your day my dear!

  2. I thought when I retired I’d have LOTS of time for extras in my life. 4 days a week, I take care of my grandson who will be 4 the end of Jan and have been doing this since he was 6 months. It is a JOY. I volunteer at the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation on the Hope Bus where I teach the healing arts of Zentangle and book arts. As a 2 time breast cancer survivor, and ones who chose not to have reconstruction, I sometimes feel downright dumpy. This book might be able to help me turn around. Thanks and have a great weekend.

  3. Brooke, thanks for intruducing Carol, this sounds wonderful, I think I will get a book for each of my three children for Christmas. I will look for the one she writes for myself, I am feeling lost at 50 since the family dynamics have changed. And wanting to make a difference for the better, not only in my life but others.
And hopefully this will help me be a better grandmother also. Thanks

  4. What an amazing idea for a book! My 2 kiddos are completely different, and i know the 3rd (coming in dec!) will be different from the other two. What a great resource this would be to be able to help them each in a way that is beneficial instead of treating them all the same!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. This books seems perfect for our family! Just reading the titles of the 4 types of personalities, I feel like I can peg my twins (I. is fun-loving and C. is oh-so sensitive!) and their baby sister (very determined!). I struggle with giving them each what they need when they are so different from each other, that sometimes I forget to find the joy in being their mama. Thanks!

  6. I was given a (different) parenting book last year as a gift that I despised so much I ripped out the pages and made a hanging mobile with it. THIS was the book that I was craving and needing. I’ve read it all the way through twice. I’ve had hours worth of conversations about it with friends. It has helped me understand not just my kids, but all the wonderful relationships in my life and all the testy relationships that I need to work on. I’m so glad you got to interview Carol. It was fun to hear!

  7. What a great book, I am always looking for good books on parenting skills. I have an very spirited 4 year old who had colic as a baby and a pretty easy going 2 year old who certainly has her moments as well.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  8. I think that how can I ever raise my children right without my “village”? And books like this contribute to raising them the best way…right? And I believe in purposeful parenting. 🙂

  9. My son, with Down syndrome, will be a year old next month. I’m sure this book would give me lots of insight on raising him without a lot of struggles that could come up with special needs.

  10. Here’s the truth. My kids (girl – 5 years, boy – 2 years and does the puppy count too?) are running me into the ground! The past couple of years my family has gone through some really hard trials and to be quite blunt, I am totally lost. My relationships with my parents, siblings, husband, and children are a mess and I am feeling the guilt and fear that I am losing everything dear to me. After two years of constant chaos and working and trying to keep my house from burning to the ground (ok, that was an exaggeration ;)) I need help! My daughter and I have always had a rocky relationship and the things that have happened the past two years, have made me feel like I am losing her, that she is slipping out of my hands… and she is only 5!!! I so don’t want our relationship to always be a struggle, arguing, fighting… I just have no idea how to love her or what makes her tick and how to love her given my own personality. Which, BTW, I feel at a complete loss about who I am now too.

So yeah, this mom needs help. Help finding herself, help finding and healing hurt relationships with my husband, parents, and siblings. And help figuring out how to love, cherish, and help my two beautiful children grown into the people they are meant to be!

  11. Wow! I would love to read this. With two kids (and one on the way), one who is very easy for me to understand and one who is definitely not, I would love to read Carol’s insights on the different types.

  12. I have a 6 year old boy who I had been raising on my own up until a year and a half ago. In January 2011 I met a worderful man who was also a single dad raising his little girl. We are now one family living under one roof. His little girl is 7 and a tough cookie. I can’t seem to make her happy or speak to her in a manner that she likes. My son is the sensitive one, he’s a very good boy and has a very good heart.

I could really use this book to help me understand them both better.

  13. I need this book because I have three young children with very different personalities, needs, loves, etc. I am especially trying very hard to understand my oldest, who has had a bit of attitude and strong emotions lately.

  14. I am a teacher – and a mother of one – and I’m constantly trying to figure out the best way to connect with different children. Each child is so different and it can be really tricky to know what works best with each child. I have always found it more challenging to connect with my boy students – and of course….I have a son! This book would help to give me strategies (I hope) to deal with all different types of children, including my own son.

  15. I have four children ages 15 to 8 who I adore, but who also constantly bewilder me. They are all so different. The minute I think I have parenting down with one, the next puts a completely different spin on things and I find myself constantly changing tactics, trying to figure out how to teach, help them make good choices, and not make myself completely crazy in the process. I love to learn and I have heard wonderful things about this book. I am hoping it would give me some new ideas to help me help my children to be the best they can be and to help me be the best mother to them that I can.

  16. What a great giveaway- sounds like an amazing book!! There are many more deserving winners than me (quick read through some of the other comments- so many deserving women!!), so I don’t want to be in the drawing, but I wanted to thank you for reviewing this book. I was interested in it – but reading your review has made me want to fit it into the budget!! I have a son who is 4 yrs and 2 girls, 2 yrs and 9 months, my 4 year old is going through a stage that I am not sure how to handle. Some of the things you mentioned make me think this would be a very helpful book. Already trying to peg my son…sensitive or serious? Looking forward to reading it! Thanks so much!!

  17. Brooke, I don’t need to be entered to win the book, I already have it and it’s fantastic! I do want to say that your interview with Carol was outstanding. Your articulate questions were perfect and I love that Carol was so detailed and helpful in her answers. She has given us a completely revolutionary way of thinking and parenting. Just awesome!

  18. Not only do I photograph children (and families)but I have two very different boys of my own. I think this book would just help me on an everyday basis.
