Because You’re Beautiful

It’s humorous for me to look back on that time when I was only 3 months along in  pregnancy and seriously thought that I was getting large!  Ha!  Months later, I’m now carrying SEVERAL more pounds and definitely LOOK pregnant!

Even though I look much heavier now (yep!) I still feel the same as I did then about the need we have to embrace who we are and also what we look like in whatever stage of life we are in.  I look at my pre-pregnancy pictures now and gasp “I was SOOOOO Skinny!”  Of course, I wasn’t skinny by the world’s terms, but now that I’m a good several thousand pounds heavier I sure feel that way!

But more than anything I strongly believe that the beauty that we feel and perceive in others is in large majority determined by what is inside.  The most beautiful people that I know likely wouldn’t grace the cover of Vogue at all, but who they are makes them absolutely stunning.

Some of you may remember my “Because You’re Beautiful” blog post a few months ago, and most especially the “Because You’re Beautiful” Contest! My contest invited blog readers to nominate the beautiful people in their life (including themselves).  It was seriously humbling to read about the incredible people that we have amongst us!  I was baffled at how to choose a winner, when clearly everyone deserved to be recognized.  Hooray for random drawings!

Andrea was the winner drawn for the contest, and I had the absolute pleasure and delightful time getting together with her a few weeks ago.  She opted to have her complimentary session ON THE SAME DAY SHE RAN A MARATHON!!!!

When trying to choose a time I suggested “immediately after the marathon” would be best, but she politely declined!

Andrea completely embodies beauty in every aspect. She’s obviously gorgeous, but you can see the light in her eyes, the contagious smile and seriously, if you could hear her laugh, its like music!  She’s so gracious, complimentary, optimistic and an absolute delight to be around.  For a lovely glimpse of what is inside her heart, read her nomination for the contest!

  1. WOW, Brooke you are amazing! Where were you when I got married? 🙂 No joke, leaps and bounds better than my photographer. I may be a little biased because Andrea happens to be my sister-in-law, but these pictures are seriously SO BEAUTIFUL, not only because of the woman in the pics, but also because of your talent. If we’re ever in Logan at the same time you are, I would LOVE for you to take pictures of my beautiful baby!

  2. Great job again Brooke. How can anyone run a marathon and even be doing leaps at the end of the day? She must be amazing. You caught real beauty through the lens too!

  3. So I just love these! Thanks again Brooke for taking them! I felt absolutely glamorous! I just posted my pix from the half so people could see the before and after..honestly it’s really funny! But once again your talent is evident in these great pix.

  4. Brooke, your work is amazing, and your subject…She is so beautiful and I can’t believe that she has enough legs left after a marathon to jump like that for the last shot. I’m hoping to have talent like you one day. Maybe I can attend one of your classes.
